"Paper, or Plastic?"

I can remember when my grocery store used to ask me this, it seems to be a thing in the past now, hopefully our world is starting to see the benefits of saving trees and recycling. To teach my students a few of the techniques in watercolor such as, rubbing off, and lifting out, we did this for an exercise, also creating shadows with alizarian and cobalt. Thank you to the wonderful photographer, Clarita for sharing her photo on Morguefile.

Beautiful work, Lori, all of it! This painting reminds me of my first watercolor assignment: a paper bag. I love the concept. If you botch it up, you don't feel bad, because it was only a paper bag, not a beautiful flower. But if you paint a successful, glowing paper bag, as you have done, you can say wow, look what I can do with an ordinary everyday object. It's a great confidence-building teaching tool.

Thanks Jane, yes, my students were quite proud of themselves, it was quite funny! :) Seeing beauty in everything, not what we do every day! ;) Thanks for taking the time to comment. ;)

Neat painting and well executed.

I hope you didn't hold that photo of you pose to long. You will get a stiff neck.

I love this one... especially the shadows, my nemesis. :) I'll have to try doing shadows with those colours.
